Dave The Akbash Needs Your Help

This sweet Akbash boy was found by the side of the road in Vail, Colorado.  He is starving and needs some affection and attention.  There is an Akbash Rescue, but they are only able to help this poor guy if they can find a foster.

He needs a rescue group to come to his aid, and/or a foster home to help him out while he looks for his forever home.  He is sweet yet shy, and is getting along with the dog of the man who is currently helping him temporarily.  If you can help him, please contact Emily Wolf at:  newfylove@yahoo.com

Wanted: Someone to Foster Me and Help Save My Life!

This is a beautiful boy who was dropped off at a shelter that is at capacity. They listed him as a Great Pyrenees Mix originally, but we know Akbash are often miscategorized!  I can just tell there is something special about this boy! The Akbash Rescue is trying to save him, but they need a foster home for him!  If something about that amazing face strikes a cord in your heart, contact :

Here is another Akbash who showed up at the pound.  He is a beautiful boy and a great dog.  I know Janet's rescue is full, but thought I would send him along in case you might have an idea or two where I could send his pictures and information - hoping to save him.  Don't know if you have looked at the pound's website recently, but it is over full.  Not good.

This is a beautiful dog who appears to be an Akbash rather than a Great Pyrenees.  He is calm and quiet, both in the cage and out of it.  He walks well on leash, and enjoys going for a walk.  He met 2 men and 3 women today and liked all of us.  He also met several other dogs and liked all of them.  He makes good, non-threatening eye contact and enjoys pets and attention.  He is estimated to be about 26-28” tall, and his weight is approximately 100-120#.  He is a surrender, but there is no surrender form for him.  He is neutered and makes good, non-threatening eye contact

He is just coming three, neutered, good with kids and other dogs. Not been around cats that they know of.  Was never inside but I am sure that would not be a problem. I guess he is very mellow and sweet.

This sweet little face is Dragon!

Dragon is a gorgeous 1 year old, male Akbash! 

He was found wandering in WY, and was the victim of what looked like a home neuter job.  Yikes!  The rescue had him completely vetted, and he is doing fine now!  Dragon is up to date on all his shots, heartworm negative, has been dewormed and microchipped. He has a great temperament and is fine with the other dogs in his foster home. He has not lived in a house though, most likely was a working dog. 

Dragon has just been moved from WY to a foster home here in Colorado!

Our Friend the Akbash

You've noticed we have been reaching out and posting blogs on some of our Akbash cousins in need of forever homes and/or fosters!  In the past, we saw many Akbash come through Pyr rescue.  Often, people think "Oh, that's a Pyr mix, right?"  We hear theories of Pyrs mixed with Goldens, or Labs.. but really they may be a gorgeous breed all their own.. Klondike is a gorgeous young white Anatolian Shepherd. His personality is as stunning as his looks! Klondike has not met anyone or anything he does not love....dogs, cats people, anyone who will say hi is fine with this big fellow! He was found with a Pyrenees buddy and impounded in such a small shelter it was really a shed. No internet access and no hope of adoption or rescue. Were it not for a concerned local citizen that tries to get help for the dogs in this shelter, Klondike's time would have been up! He was taken into rescue and has had the full treatment! Shots, neuter, bath....he is heartworm negative and a healthy young, (approx one and a half), year old male. It would not be possible to find a nicer or more magnificent dog! Klondike awaits his new forever home!

Young Toby is very sweet and looking for a permanent home in Colo. He is friendly with other dogs and will crawl in your lap for attention. He is lonely after spending months in a shelter and boarding kennel. Toby is a complete lover and wants to say hello to everyone he meets. He is great with dogs and people. He rides nicely in the car and walks great on leash. He loves long walks in the open space of Colorado. 

He is about 7 months old and is to be neutered this week. He is HW negative and fully vaccinated. His adoption fee is $350 through Akbash Dog Rescue International. Toby will not be very big. He is 60 lbs now and will probably be 90 lbs when he is fully mature. But he makes up in heart what he lacks in size. What a sweetie pie.
